Unit assessments are done periodically to determine what the child has learned over the unit previously studied. There are eight language arts units for the school year. Each unit lasts approximately 4-5 weeks. Assessments are done after the completion of a unit. A skill assessment key is used to determine the child's knowledge of different areas, such as phonologic and phonemic awareness, comprehension, vocabulary, alphabetic knowledge, print and book concepts, and conduct/work habits. Parents will receive this report showing their child's progress throughout the school year.
