Chess Program

Elementary students are welcome to join the LCCS Chess Program. It consists of Chess Teams and Chess Teams-in-Training, which meet weekly on Tuesdays during the school year. The teams meet in the LCCS Cafeteria from 5:30-8:00pm.

The program is available to students in grades 2-12. (For our students in grades K-1, we ask a parent/guardian to attend each meeting to learn with their child.)

A regular meeting consists of teaching or puzzles, then practice games with notation and clocks. Simple snacks are provided. We have 2-rated in-club tournaments, in which LCCS Elementary students have successfully competed. We teach the strategy of chess, good sportsmanship, and how to handle winning and losing. These skills will help build strong character.
