| Middle School :: Team Building |
All middle school students participate in team-building and
leadership training activities. The students work in a variety of team
configurations to solve problems, meet challenges, and plan activities and
projects. Chapel time is utilized to provide the time for this process to
occur. Sometimes the students work together within their grade levels,
sometimes in cross-grade level teams, and other times in single gender teams.
The purpose of this is to teach cooperation, consensus building, organization,
planning and follow-through skills. The students learn by doing! This process
begins the first day of school, continues through the Fall Retreat, and
finishes with a Team Challenge Day in the spring. The students acquire and
practice developmentally appropriate social and leadership skills. Eighth
graders hold Team Leader positions and comprise the MS Leadership Council.
