Middle school students receive their awards during a chapel
program in May.
Academic Awards
- Students
who maintain an average of 98-100 for the first three quarters receive an
award for Superior Performance in that subject area.
- Students
who maintain an average of 95-97 for the first three quarters receive an
award for Excellent Performance in that subject area.
- Students
who improve their performance significantly and demonstrate extraordinary
effort receive a Recognition Award in that subject area.
President's Excellence Awards
The purpose of this award is to recognize academic success in the
classroom. At LCCS, to be eligible for the President's Award for Educational
Excellence, the student must meet the following criteria:
- The
student must be enrolled and completing his 8th grade course work.
- The
student must earn at least a grade point average of 90 on a 100 point
scale. This includes the student's course work in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
- The
student must score in the 85th percentile or higher in either math or
reading on a Standardized Achievement test. LCCS uses the Stanford
Achievement Test or the student must receive a recommendation from
a teacher plus one other staff member that reflects this student's outstanding
achievement in a particular core curriculum area or his/her outstanding
achievements in community service or co-curricular activities.
Honor Roll
At the Awards Program in May, students who have fulfilled the
academic and conduct requirements and have stayed on the A Honor Roll for the
first three quarters of the school year are placed on the Platinum Honor Roll
and receive an award at the awards program.
At the Awards Program in May, students who have fulfilled the academic and
conduct requirements and remained on the AB Honor Roll for the first three
quarters of the school year are placed on the Gold Honor Roll and receive an
award at the awards program.
Athletics Awards
The Athletics Department awards student athletes for their
participation and for outstanding individual and team performance in each
sport.
Duke University Talent Search
LCCS participates in the Duke University Talent Search Program.
Students qualify for this program by scoring in the 95th percentile in either
Math or Reading on the Stanford Achievement Test taken during the spring of
the sixth grade year.
