and knowledge."
-Colossians 2:3
The National Honor Society at LCCS was granted its charter in
1985. Students are invited to become members of the National Honor Society
based on scholarship, leadership, service and character. Although academic
performance is of great importance, membership is based on all four areas.
Membership in the NHS is not simply an extension of the Honor Roll. Initiation
is in the spring of each year with membership limited to grades 11 and 12. A
student must have completed at least three quarters of a year at LCCS to be
considered for induction into the organization. Each students must maintain the
standards in order to remain an active member. Failure to do so will result in
probation or dismissal.
Specific criteria for consideration include:
- 3.75 or higher
GPA on semester grades in academic courses through grades 11 or 12 (See
criteria for ranking in Section II.)
- Enrollment in at
least one pre-A or honors course at LCCS
- Conduct grades
of E or S in the year of selection
- No Major
disciplinary offenses or more than one Minor disciplinary offense during
the previous year
If a student meets the above criteria, s/he may apply for
membership. The membership committee consists of four faculty members. The
application process includes submitting a record of leadership and service
activities. Student conduct, as it relates to character issues, will be
addressed by the faculty committee. This committee may seek input from other
sources in their decision-making.
The Lake Country Christian School National Junior Honor Society
was granted its charter in 1986. Students in 8th grade are invited to become
