Fine Arts :: Competitions

Beginning in the fall, students may prepare solos and ensembles outside the classroom to compete in arenas as provided by a number of different organizations. With the help of our faculty and our private teachers, students choose appropriate repertoire, spend extra hours preparing material for performance, and compete in several different fields. Our students enjoy the preparation and performances in outside organizations' competitions and take pride in their placement among the competition from other schools. Many of the organizations include both private and parochial programs; therefore, our students are competing in large groups of students from a variety of schools and performance levels.

On a regular basis, our students place in the following festivals and competitions:

TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) All-Region and All-State Choir
 

Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 9,000 music educators united by common goals.

To provide professional growth opportunities, to encourage interaction among music education professionals, to foster public support for music in schools, to offer quality musical experience for students, to cultivate universal appreciation and lifetime involvement in music, to develop and maintain productive working relationships with other professional organizations.
