Spiritual Life :: Wednesday Chapels

HS Chapel

High School Chapel is held weekly on Wednesdays and is a valued part of the spiritual enrichment for our students. Each week features a guest speaker to share their testimony and passion for Christ. HS Chapel worship is led by a Praise Band made up of LCCS students. Many chapel activities encourage small group participation as an outlet for accountability, discussion and prayer.

MS Chapel

Middle school is a unique time and place for our students. And as such, there are facets of middle school unlike anywhere else. One of the facets is middle school chapel.  The middle school has two kinds of chapels throughout the year..."Hear the Word" and "Do the Word."
  • "Hear the Word" chapel involves a time of praise and worship and a speaker who addresses key issues that are relevant to our middle school students. "Hear the Word" chapels are provided by LCCS faculty and administration as well as guest speakers.
  • "Do the Word" chapels are a time for the middle school students to build character through activities that provide opportunities for students to practice the principles taught in Scripture.

Elementary Chapel

Kindergarten, First and Second Grades attend weekly chapels from 8:15-8:50, while Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades have chapel from 9:00-9:50.  Both chapel times include pledges and prayers, offerings given for Mission India, monthly birthday recognitions, and a praise and worship time.

Chapel lessons are taught by the Elementary Principal, Bill Burton, and by Chapel Coordinator and Art teacher, Debbie Garrison. Guest speakers often visit, as well as students from LCC Middle and High Schools who share testimonies, songs, multimedia and dramatic presentations.  Teachers also share about God’s faithfulness in their lives.

Lesson themes for 2007-2008 included “God’s Colorful Character,” a study of His attributes, and “Prayer Power,” monthly prayer targets such as children who live in the 10/40 Window, the most unchurched part of the world.  Students enjoy a weekly “Creature Feature” which teaches about unique creations in the animal kingdom and the biblical life lessons to learn from them.  Presentations designed to promote a school culture of respect are a great part of the program.  We invite parents and grandparents to join us for our Wonderful Wednesday Chapels.
