"For
many of us student travelers this trip was pure vulnerability. We loved on Father God every moment with service; things like cooking for others, devoting personal time, chilling with our orphanage buddies, various brigades nurturing the community, etc, and in the evening more glorifying Father by unwinding in worship and thanks before Him. Personally, with an undone soul and mind, vulnerable spirit and heart, that wide open receptive space was danger to MY plan because the Lord furtively filled it up with His Master Plan for me.
"Every year of high
school I went on a mission trip to a different country. We would take a
week off and go and leave everything behind and show God's love to the locals.
I was so fortunate to be ablt to partake in each trip. I grew more and more in
my walk with Him and was always reminded of His love and greatness.
"My freshman year we
went to South Africa, it was there that I discovered my passion for
missions and truly started my walk with the Lord. Since then as I
have traveled with LCCS on both Honduras teams and to Peru, I discovered
missions are a part of me and something I will continue to be involved in
because of what was implanted on that first trip. God placed me on these trips
to share his love with little ones, whether it was by blowing bubbles,
teaching English, or holding a crying baby, I got to be love. Its one of the
greatest feelings, being able to love back, unconditionally the way Christ
has loved me." South Africa 2007, Honduras 2008, Peru 2009, Honduras 2010 Ray'Lee Purscell (Class of 2010)
"Going on mission
trips with LCCS has really opened my eyes to be aware of how many people still
need the Lord and need prayer. Since attending mission trips with Lake Country,
I know that I want to continue helping in any way, whether it be in my
community or across the world."
"I went on three
mission trips, all of which I learned so much. My first mission trip, I went to
Juarez Mexico as a sophomore. It was here that I truly learned hard work, and
that no work done in the name of the Lord is in vain. My next mission trip was
to Posadas, Argentina. This was where I grew the most, simply because I knew
more Spanish at that time, and the majority of the people knew how to speak
English. While in Argentina, the Lord truly revealed Himself to me in the way
that I listen to His voice and what He truly desires for me. Because of
learning this as early as I did, I have been able to grow even more
in my relationship with the Lord, especially when making important decisions in
college. My third mission trip was to Honduras. Here, we did several
different mission works, but the most impactful to me was
the make-shift clinic that we were a part of. It was eye-opening
to see the things that I take for granted when these people are so grateful to
have the little things they do, for instance, Neosporin or Advil. It was
also amazing getting to talk to the locals about what the Lord had been
doing in their town. It was such an encouragement. I wish there
was more that I could say about these trips, but some of it, you
simply have to experience for yourself. The Lord moves in so many ways, especially
when we don't even get to see the fruits of our labor and prayers. All
this to say, these trips can open your eyes to see things that you never
thought you would, and it gives you a chance to grow in your relationship with
the Lord through the way you serve people and worship and pray with your team.
I strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of the mission opportunities
you have available while at Lake Country because you never know when you
will get that chance again." "God changed my life by using me and allowing me to show his love to those children." "As I looked around and heard the songs of voices I could not interpret nor could I follow along with, a stillness came over me and I just began to sing in my own tongue. We were all praising our Father in our own way and Jesus showed up and poured out His love on each of us."
Panama, 2005 Lacey Flenner (Class of 2006) "This was one of the most inspiring and heartfelt moments in my life. I can honestly say this trip made me into a better man, person, and follower of God. What I saw in this country will never be erased from my memory. It has humbled me in indescribable fashion. I learned about how much I have been blessed with after going to a country where there isn't a Starbucks at every corner, where EVERY person doesn't have a cell phone, or where a great number of people don't have the chance to better themselves with continuing their education. Meeting many Argentinians, standing above Iguazu Falls, holding prayer walks with comical skits, and eating some of the most "interesting" foods I have ever seen was a life experience that will never be forgotten or tainted." Argentina 2006 Chase Truitt (Class of 2006)"Going to Argentina in the spring of 2006 made such an impact on my life. I felt the closest to God that I ever had in my entire life; it was filled with so many spiritual awakenings and the people were amazing. The Argentina mission trip is definitely something I will not forget."
Argentina, 2006 Caitlyn Minor (Class of 2007) "This being my first mission trip, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to minister to the kids and growing closer to God. I hope my future mission trips are as memorable as this one."
Tex-Mex Trip, 2006 Julie Drott (Class of 2008) "I learned how to be more bold with my faith, because if I am not, who will be?"
Romania/Scotland/England, March 2001 Lauren Garrison (Class of 2002) "We really take for granted the life we lead; we are so blessed. I realized how much the world desperately needs Jesus." Romania/Scotland/England, March 2001; Spain, 2004 (Callie Nelson, Class of 2004) "I realized that a lot of little things can make a big difference. It was satisfying to see our job completed and to be able to make a difference while having fun with my friends." Local Missions, March 2001, 2002 Aaron Boswell (Class of 2002) "It was incredible to know that I was one of only 500 Christians in a city of over 16 million! We were ambassadors shedding light through love." Turkey, March 2001 Simeon Hughes (Class of 2001) |
