Lake Country Christian School is pleased to begin a new relationship with China Project Hope, an international cultural exchange organization. We have met with the area representatives of this organization. It matches the mission and goals of Lake Country Christian School. It also provides the support required for hosting students successfully. Each Chinese student is required to attend an 8 week course that introduces them to American culture and expectations. The organization also provides academic support and emotional support to the student who is so far from home and in a foreign land. And, it provides support, cultural information, a monthly stipend and opportunities for cultural exchange to the host family.
For the next school year, China Project Hope has 3 students (two 11th grade boys and one 10th grade girl) that they would like to place at Lake Country. They have a variety of ways to place students in host homes, but the best way is for those students to be placed in homes of current LCCS students. The host home does not need to have a student who is in the same grade as the international student.
These students come from families who value education and are willing for their students to attend a Christian school. They are not necessarily Christians themselves, but they know that it is important to instill strong moral values in their child. Also, many of the students come from the typical one child Chinese family. These prospective students create a video to demonstrate their English language skills. For those who might be interested in hosting a student, this link would be available to view this as well.
Attached is a letter of introduction from China Project Hope. As an aside, Heather Jackson, our area coordinator, lives in the Marine Creek area and is an alumnus of the Garland YMCA Youth and Government Program. She will be readily available to help and answer questions.
