There are many reasons to celebrate our fine arts students and their accomplishments during the 2014-15 school year! Our musical theatre production of State Fair gleaned 4 Betty Lynn Buckley Award Nominations. Art students received 23 Superior ratings at ACSI Art Competition, 7 students advanced to TAPPS State Art Competition, and one student placed 2nd in the Betsy Price Citywide High School Art Competition. Band students brought home awards which included Symphonic Band Straight 1st Division Ratings, TAPPS State Drumline Runner-Up Div. III, TPSMEA State Marching Contest 3rd Place, 1st Chair All-State Band Student, and 8 1/Superior ratings at State. The LCCS Choir was the TAPPS 3A State Runner-Up, and received 7 All-State honors and 18 1/Superior ratings at State. Two of our dance students made elite team at Danceline camp, and contest results for Flight 4031 included Officer and Team Sweepstakes awards, First Runner-Up in Military category, and 2 All-State honors. Students also showcased their talent in venues outside the usual contests. Performances included 4 band students in the 41st Tuba Christmas at TCU, Flight 4031 at a Texas Legends basketball game at Frisco’s Dr. Pepper Arena, and the cast of State Fair at Casa Mañana’s Betty Buckley Awards.
