We are very excited to share that our LCCS Lower School students filled the first Blessing Bags to be donated to children in need! Last year, we had a vision to create an ongoing community service project that would benefit kids in our community. During our brainstorming, we came across some staggering statistics related to childhood hunger in Tarrant County. It became clear that this would be our mission. Needing funds to make our project happen, it was decided that our annual Boosterthon Fun Run fundraising would be the perfect source of income. Instead of using it for ourselves, we would use it to give back to our community and help hungry kids.
LCCS has partnered with a local public school and is providing a Blessing Bag of non-perishable foods and snacks to children who have little access to food on the weekends. These kids receive breakfast and lunch at school during the week, but often have little to eat over the weekend when school is not in session. Each week Lower School students will take turns filling the bags to be delivered to the school. When it is their turn to deliver, students will include handmade notes with words of encouragement, scripture, or pictures to brighten someone’s day!
